Welcome to Eucalyptus Montessori, Early Learning Centre & Preschool in Canberra
Discover Eucalyptus Montessori, a distinguished early learning centre founded in 2017, offering three unique long day care learning environments for children aged from 3 months to 6 years of age.
Reflecting the highest standards in early childhood programming, our dedicated and experienced staff are committed to providing stimulating learning environments that are geared towards the child - enabling them to proceed at their own pace in a non-competitive environment to explore, experiment and develop their love of learning.
Eucalyptus Montessori’s facilities have been specifically designed by a leading Australian architectural firm to draw upon the natural concepts of beauty, harmony, simplicity and order. The centre has been carefully planned to take full advantage of the self-motivation and unique learning abilities of all children. It provides children with the freedom to follow their natural tendencies towards independence, exploration, co-operation, order, repetition, imagination and communication.
In addition to our state-of-the-art indoor amenities, Eucalyptus is also proud to feature an expansive 900 sqm outdoor space. This area surpasses the national requirement for outdoor space per child by nearly 50%, reflecting our unwavering commitment to nurturing children's natural curiosity and connection with the outdoors. Thoughtfully designed, this outdoor area provides abundant opportunities for physical activities, exploration of nature, and imaginative play, all contributing to a well-rounded learning experience.

Each indoor learning environment features underfloor heating, air purifiers, and air conditioning systems.
Montessori Method
“Montessori education begins at birth and is an education for life.”
The Montessori approach to education aims for the fullest possible development of children, with the view to preparing them for life’s many rich experiences. Developed by Dr. Maria Montessori (1870 – 1952), the approach maintains that:
- Every child possesses an intrinsic drive to explore, to discover, to learn;
- In a stimulating environment the child will spontaneously engage in exploratory tasks;
- In doing so the child unconsciously constructs his own personality.
A truly educated individual continues learning long after the hours in the classroom because of motivation
from within and a natural curiosity and love of knowledge.

History of Eucalyptus Montessori
Founded in 2017, Eucalyptus Montessori is the culmination of a visionary endeavour. The centre founders, Storm and Crystal, in collaboration with esteemed architect Bruce Fisher, crafted an atmosphere of luminous, invigorating spaces that serve as catalysts for learning and discovery.
While pursuing her studies in the UK, Crystal discovered a passion for Early Childhood Education, falling in love especially with the Montessori philosophy. After earning her Master's degree in Psychology, she returned to China eager to immerse herself in the world of early childhood development. Naturally, she couldn't help but share her enthusiasm for Montessori methods with Storm, who found himself captivated by her stories and insights and they began to share this passion jointly.

Both Storm and Crystal then completed their Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Montessori Training for the 0-3 age group, under the mentorship of Maria Teresa Vidales — known as Cha Cha — a pioneer in Montessori education and an AMI board member. Inspired by Cha Cha's dedication and love, Storm and Crystal resolved to commit to creating a genuine Montessori centre for young children.

Storm and Crystal's Australian odyssey began in 2013 with a dream to launch a state-of-the-art Montessori Early Childhood Centre. With the guidance of Christine Harrison, a stalwart in the Canberra Montessori community and then-president of Montessori Australia Foundation, they zeroed in on Canberra as the ideal locale. The decision led to a collaboration with Bruce Fisher and the design of a bespoke centre, ultimately choosing the scenic Summerland Cct block as its home.

Despite facing construction delays, Eucalyptus Montessori finally opened its doors in September 2017, fulfilling the long-held dream of its founders. We invite you to join this transformative journey, where every space and moment is an invitation to learn, explore, and grow.
